“The Universiade Volunteer General Knowledge Book” appraisal meeting held in Shenzhen

There will be a training material tailed for the 160,000 – strong volunteer team to serve at the Shenzhen Universiade. On July 10, an appraisal meeting on “the Universiade volunteer General Knowledge Book” (hereafter the “Book”) was held in Pavilion Hotel, Shenzhen. The full – time Deputy Director of the Universiade Executive Office Liu Pingsheng as well as many experts was present at the appraisal meeting.

The “Book” is known as a flag – ship material for the Universiade volunteer training, whose writer is the former Director of the Volunteers Department Training and Development Institute of BOCOG and now Deputy Dean of the School of Management of Beijing Sport University Sun Baoli. Director of the voluntary service research center of the Guangzhou Asian Games Tan Jianguang and the No. 000001 Shenzhen Universiade volunteer and the winner of the Chinese Youth Voluntary Service Gold Award Li Honglin gave their advice and suggestions on the first draft of the “Book”.

At the appraisal meeting, the full – time Deputy Director of the Universiade Executive Office Liu Pingsheng noted, we invited experts of voluntary service to revise and review the “Book”, for the purpose of ensuring the practicability and specific directions of the “Book”. He also wanted to see better combination of professional knowledge and general knowledge in terms of the content of the book. He believed, setting the wisdom of the experts, the “Book” is bound to meet the demands of the voluntary service for the future Shenzhen Universiade, and to play an important role in all volunteers’ general knowledge training.

As told, taking almost one and a half years, the “Book” started planning and writing at the end of 2008, and the fist draft was finished ahead of time in April of this year. The General Knowledge Book is produced by Professor Sun Baoli, on the basis of her working experience with the voluntary work for the Beijing Olympics, geared toward the Universiade voluntary service’s own characteristics. The “Book” is going to be offered to the 160,000 Universiade volunteers (games – time volunteers, urban volunteers, and social volunteers included). It is crash know – how book on voluntary service at large – scale sports meetings, with rich contend, precise words and practical guides. The “Book” is said to come out by the end of this year.
