Former Foxconn worker now worth ¥2.3 billion
A FORMER Shenzhen Foxconn worker is now worth 2.3 billion yuan (US$340 million) after her company listed on the SME board at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
Wang Laichun, 43, the founder, chairwoman and general manager of Shenzhen Luxshare Precision Industry Co. Ltd., owns 57.96 million company shares, which closed at 39.99 yuan Wednesday.
Luxshare, founded in 2004, supplies connectors to the electronics industry. Customers include contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision, the parent company of Foxconn that in turn uses Luxshare’s components in products made for HP, Dell and Nokia.
Wang, a native of Chenghai, Guangdong Province, was among the first 150 workers recruited by Shenzhen Foxconn in October 1988. She left the factory in 1999.
