IN contrast to the boom in marriage registrations, local travel agencies and wedding planners have felt frustrated that the “love itineraries” created for newlyweds haven’t sold as expected.
Shenzhen Each Travel Agency is offering three four-day honeymoon packages starting Sept. 8 for newlyweds, including Yangshuo in Guilin, Sanya in Hainan and Lijiang in Yunnan. Their prices range from 1,680 yuan (US$246) to 3,380 yuan per person.
The places and activities arranged by the travel agency relate to the love theme. The trips are intended not only for the soon-to-be-married but also for lovers with no wedding plans, said Chen Jinjuan, with the planning department of Each Travel.
However, few had signed up for the packages, though Chen remained hopeful more would sign up in the coming days.
If couples prefer to stay in Shenzhen, Xi’an Jiujiuhong Wedding Co. is offering a group wedding ceremony on the Minsk aircraft carrier in Yantian District on Sept. 9.
“A group wedding ceremony on the carrier symbolizes that the marriages will be as strong and firm as an aircraft carrier,” a manager of the company surnamed Du said.
After the wedding, couples could choose to go on honeymoon trips in Hong Kong, Bali, Maldives or Saipan. But Du said few couples had signed up yet.
A wedding trip organized by the Guilin TV Station had attracted 52 couples to join a group wedding ceremony and travel to Guilin Sept. 8 to 12, said an employee surnamed Zhu with the TV station.
