A BUILDING in Bao’an District has been dubbed a “patchwork apartment” for the different colors and style of each floor.
At the junction of Fuyuan Road in Fuyong Subdistrict, the inside of the building resembled a labyrinth with more than 100 rooms, the Daily Sunshine reported.
All the rooms were occupied, according to Deng, a woman in charge of rentals.
An additional floor was being built on top of the building, the paper said.
The owner of the building, Lu, said he bought the land in 1983, building only one floor.
He did not build the second floor until 1987 and completed it in 1993.
For each job, Lu employed only one construction worker and asked his family to help. After he retired, Lu helped with the construction.
The third floor was completed in recent years and the fourth floor was being decorated.
Lu denied the building was illegal.
