Chen Gaihu
A FORMER senior official of the Central Government was appointed Shenzhen vice mayor at a meeting of the city’s legislature Monday.
Chen Gaihu, a former member of the Party committee of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and director of the commission’s general office, became the seventh vice mayor of Shenzhen.
Chen, 50, was one of the latest batch of 66 officials sent by the Central Government to local governments to take posts, including three to Guangdong.
A native of Shaanxi Province and holder of a master’s degree in law, Chen joined the Party in 1984.
He worked for the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee from 1985 to 1995 before being transferred to the General Office of the CPC Central Committee in 1995. He joined the State Ethnic Affairs Commission in 2007.
