Torch relay theme songs audition
With the Universiade approaching, the selecting of the torch relay theme song is becoming increasingly hot. Recently, an audition of excellent songs coming out of the two – session Universiade song solicitation was carried out. Four songs, namely “Rainbow”，“Running on”, “2011 Start here” and “Witness” turned out to be more popular than others, and they might be the candidate torch relay theme songs hopefully.
After knowing about the inspiration of the Universiade torch design, 400 students from eight universities including Central Conservatory of Music, Chinese Conservatory of Music, Beijng University, Zhongshan University, South China Normal University, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Shenzhen University and Shenzhen Polytechnic listened attentively to all the excellent songs. In a survey combining multiple choice and questions, apart from picking up their favorite songs, they made comments about all the four candidate songs on lyrics, singers and sound packaging elements. So far, the four songs can be downloaded via the Net, so that more musical students and citizens can go for them.
The following is the results of the song assessment and students’ comments:
The warmest is “Rainbow”, with a name resembling the torch and a soft and warm melody. The most vivid is “Running on”, with a clear theme and vivid picture. The most overwhelming is “2011 Start here”, with passionate melody, easy to sing. The most succinct is “Witness”, lyrical and lucid.
The university students said, as the torch relay is actually relay of the Universiade spirits, which embody university students’ youthful vitality and represent their longing for a better future, it has to be both universal and easy to spread. Plus, it demonstrates the Universiade notions of “friendship, love, fairness, perseverance, integrity, collaboration and work hard”. They hoped that the selected theme song will spread the Universiade notions to the every corner of society.
