There were two seats up for elections with four candidates. Also in the frame were Japan’s Kohzo Tashima and China’s Zhang Jilong.

Fernando picked up 23 of the 45 eligible votes while Worawi gained 24 votes to retain his seat on FIFA’s decision-making body. Victory was by a simple majority. Zhang won only 18 votes and Kohzo gained 19.

Meanwhile, Ganesh Thapa of Nepal, Malaysia’s HRH Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and Zhang won their respective elections for AFC Vice Presidents at the 24th AFC Congress.

Thapa, an AFC Exco Member, beat Iran’s Ali Saeed Loo 25-20 in the South & Central Asian Zone in the only vote to take place for the AFC Vice Presidents positions. Abdullah was unopposed in the Asean vote while Zhang saw all his opponents withdraw on the day in the East Asian Zone.
