Four top NCEE in single subjects Wang Yuanyuan

RESULTS announced Friday showed that four Shenzhen students had scored the highest points in three subjects in this year’s National College Entrance Examinations (NCEE) in Guangdong Province.

Deng Lili from Xixiang Middle School in Bao’an District was first in Chinese, scoring 137 of 150 points, while He Luyang from Shenzhen Senior High School in Futian District scored full marks in Basic Science. Yang Lijian from Shenzhen Middle School and Tang Miaomiao from Bao’an Middle School each scored 149 marks and were tops in maths, the city’s admission and examination office said.

However, no Shenzhen student managed to achieve the highest score in Guangdong in the general result.

A total of 10,920 students in the city had scored 494 points and 488 points, thresholds for universities of arts and science, 1,020 more than last year.

“The entry thresholds for universities and colleges in Shenzhen are among the highest in Guangdong this year,” Fan Kun, director of the office said.

Students who scored more than 490 points started applying to universities yesterday. It was the first year students were required to fill out applications after learning the examination results.

“It can be risky as the admission process is done according to a preset percentage. The enrolment scores in some universities may be higher than usual if too many students apply to enter,” Fan said.
