Universiade venue construction coordination meeting held


 





As a basic material conditions for the upcoming Universiade, venue construction has been always in the full glare of city leaders and relevant government departments. On the afternoon of September 2, the Universiade venue construction coordination meeting was held. Deputy Director of the Executive Office Ke Gangming chaired the meeting.

Leaders from some municipal departments like Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission, Financial Committee, Land Planning Commission, Education Bureau, Supervision Bureau, Oceanography Bureau, Housing and Construction Bureau, Water Resources Bureau, Auditing Bureau of Government Investment, Urban Administrative Bureau, Public Works Bureau, Shenzhen Public Security Bureau (Fire Protection Bureau), Governmental Purchasing Center, China Telecom, Power Supply Bureau, and leaders from all districts’ Development and Reform Commissions, Education Division, Physical Culture Divisions and leaders from Longgang District Executive Office, Sports Town Office, Longgang Land Planning Division, Owners of venues and respective department chiefs of the Universiade Executive Office like Supervision Division, Venue Management Dept, Competition Dept, Logistics Dept, Universiade Village Administration Dept, Information and Technology Dept and Security and safeguard Dept, had a warm discussion on current problems in Universiade venue construction.

Chief of the Executive Office Supervision Division Guo Jingwei thought, for the purpose of sorting and solving the problems, every unit should strengthen links with each other and propel the venue construction with joint efforts.

On the occasion, people presented in all six sorts of problems including the countdown schedule of venue construction, building energy saving, and water supply security inside venues. Among them, venue functional graphic design was leaders’ primary concern. Ke Gangming noted, with full communication with venue owners and with careful planning, designing institutes should make good use of resources of venues’ surrounding areas, to reduce the workload and to realize a “frugal Universiade”.

In conclusion, Mr. Ke raised four demands on the venue construction: every section should pay great attention to venue construction, for it is the prerequisite and the basic condition of hosting a spectacular Universiade; Given the principle “competitions as the center, venues as the basis, attribution areas as supporters”, every venue is set to shoulder their own duties; every unit is to ensure the venue construction quality at the same time implementing the “frugal Universiade” logo. Hoped all government functional departments will be highly supportive of the Executive Office as they did before, to stage a successful Universiade, he added.
