Angolan hoopers leaves for Spain

The Angolan men’s basketball team left here on Saturday evening for Spain for a 20-day training program to prepare for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games set for August this year in China.

After its training program in Spain, the Angolan men’s basketball team will also fly to China to compete in the Borislav Stancovik Cup in China and the Diamond tournament in Macao.

The Angolan players summoned for the competition include such players as Kikas Gomes, Olimpio Cipriano, Carlos Almeida, Armando Costa, Felizardo Ambrosio, Vlademir Ricardino, Abdel Bouckar, Eduardo Mingas, Milton Barros, Victor Muzadi, Luis Costa, Carlos Morais, Domingos Bonifacio, Leonel Paulo, Francisco Horacio, Idelfonso Quiteculo, Divaldo Bunga, Emanuel Neto and Miguel Lutonda.

The Angolan men’s basketball team is regarded the best team in Africa which has won eight titles out of nine African basketball championships since its first appearance in 1980.
