REGISTRATIONS for government-subsidized apartments at subdistrict offices across the city will start today, one day after housing authorities released a list of the names of 6,471 families and the locations of the apartments available.
The municipal land resources and housing management bureau said eligible families would be able to pick up notices at subdistrict offices from today until Friday, detailing the schedule for each applicant to select apartments in Futian, Bao’an and Longgang districts.
Families will also be allowed to inspect the apartments after July 5, before making a final decision.
Of the 6,471 finalists, 4,421 applicants intended to purchase apartments at much lower prices, while 1,221 families applied for low-rent apartments. A total of 829 families applied for both low-cost and low-rent apartments.
Compared with the list of names released June 10, the new list added the names of 169 more applicants after they had appealed to the city government and successfully passed the final examination and verification by authorities.
Of the 8,746 applications received, 2,236 were turned down mainly because the applicants had assets totaling more than 28,000 yuan (US$4,000), owned other apartments, or were not holders of Shenzhen hukou, or permanent residence permits, before Dec. 31, 2005.
During the examination by authorities, an applicant was found to be holding more than a million yuan worth of shares in a listed company and it was found that another applicant’s family owned six cars.
Families found to have cheated on their applications would be blacklisted and would not be able to apply for government-subsidized housing for five years, according to housing authorities.
Eligible families outnumbered the total 6,006 apartments available and Yu Haixia, a public relations official with the bureau, said the extra 465 families would also get other apartments this year after the 6,006 were given out.
In December 2007, the city government decided to set aside 6,000 apartments for low-income families at prices much lower than the market price.
The full list has been posted on the housing management bureau’s Web site at www.szfdc.gov.cn. Applicants can call the bureau’s hotline, 8320-7144, for inquiries.
