BANGKOK, August 11 (Xinhua) — The men’s 100 meters final of the World University Games will have a rematch Sunday afternoon, the arbitration panel of the athletics competition announced Saturday night.
Great Britain’s Simeon Williamson was crowned the men’s 100m in 10.28 seconds Saturday evening ahead of China’s Zhang Peimeng and Canadian Neviile Wright but he was alleged to have false started. The Chinese athletics team immediately filed a formal complaint.
Three hours later, the Chinese delegation was told by the arbitration panel that the men’s 100m will have a rematch at 19:30 on Sunday.
