SHENZHEN was voted the favorite city in which to work by university graduates who majored in electronics, telecommunications and computer sciences, according to a recently released nationwide survey on best employers for Chinese university students.
The survey, conducted by Global Magazine of the Xinhua News Agency, polled more than 25,000 students from 79 universities around the country.
Most students chose Shenzhen because it is “home to the country’s largest telecom and IT companies and has a large number of such companies,” which means a lot of job opportunities, yesterday’s Guangzhou Daily reported.
Shenzhen is headquarters to Huawei and TZE, China’s leading telecom service providers, and Tencent, one of the country’s largest Internet service portals.
Overall, Beijing topped Chinese cities for the best city to work for university graduates, followed by Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, the survey found.
According to last week’s U.S. business magazine Fortune, Beijing is home to 96 of the country’s top 500 companies. Shanghai ranked second with 29 companies.
Survey respondents named China Mobile, U.S. multinational P&G and Bank of China as the top three best employers.
