Telekom Serbia – Hi-Tech Solutions for Universiade 2009

For the Universiade 2009, Company Telekom Serbia has provided hi-tech services, based on the existing and newly built telecommunication infrastructure. For this purpose, they used existing capacities, but also expanded and updated significantly public telecommunication network, as well. For example, over 600 km of new optic fibers connecting all venues and play fields to be used during the Universiade, have been installed.

In order to provide normal daily functioning of the Universiade, Telekom Serbia has provided IT and telecommunication support for the Universiade information systems, consisting of a sub-system for collecting data, for accreditation, for security, for TV broadcasting, as well as fast Internet and fixed telephony.

-Infrastructure built for the Universiade 2009 will be in use after this event is over and will function as an integral part of the existing Telekom Serbia telecommunication network. Organizers and participants of the Universiade will be the first to use new services provided by Telekom Serbia based on IP technology, such as IP CENTREX and broadband telephone connections (IP telephone). Especially important is the fact that these services will be available to other users in Serbia very soon – said Jelena Stojanovic, Telekom Serbia Marketing and Sales director.

Each room in University Village has top of the range telecommunication equipment; all Universiade participants and administrators are provided with fixed and mobile telephone service in the form of package deal service for mobile and fixed telephones, Internet and IPTV.

All participants will be able to use fixed telephones through the package deal service, based on prepaid payment; therefore, a fixed telephone can be topped up by purchasing a voucher of your choice any time. Besides that, University Village residents will have in their rooms ADSL and IPTV devices and will be able to choose package deals that suit their needs. Prepaid mobile phone mt:s cards, that allow international call at a unique price, are much more cost effective than roaming charges of a foreign operator. On offer is also a Data prepaid card for mobile Internet. By using Press InfoCall voucher, accredited journalists will be able to telephone at very competitive prices both locally and abroad.

For the purpose of registration of delegations – Universiade 2009 participants, Telekom Serbia has developed a user’s portal for competitions. During the Universiade, a Call Center for participants will be available to them 24 hours a day – by dialing 9818 they will be able to get information about competition schedules, transportation to playfields and tourist offers available in Belgrade.
