“Photo Universiade” contest launched

On December 6, the “Photo Universiade” contest, jointly held by the Universiade Executive Office, Longgang District government and Shenzhen Press Group, officially kicked off. From that day on, excellent photos both home and abroad are expected to be submitted through Tencent.com. As told, the awardees above bronze will have a chance to get the Universiade games – time news-covering certificates, and then shoot the great moments at the Universiade.
According to the leaders in charge, it is of great significance to hold a photo contest when entering the “Universiade Year”. One aim of it is to gather more press photos of significant events from the Universiade bidding to the countdown, to enlarge the existing photo gallery of the Executive Office; the second, collect scattered photos from civilian, to vary the existing photos; and the third, further promote the Universiade through the contest, and the winning photos’ exhibition and album publication after that.
The contest is said to involve five themes —— venue construction, the landscape & the culture, urban construction and spectacular Universiade. The candidate photos are expected to be closely related to the Shenzhen 2010 Universiade, such as city views, venue construction and events, activities, mass cultural and sports activities and citizen lives during Universiade preparations. Besides, Universiade – related moments are also welcome. Either individual photos or group photos are required to have verbal description, among which essays are preferable. Awardees have a chance to get games – time reporter’s ID cards
As was told, there will be several photographing activities in the two – month competition. An expert assessment goes on February 12 – 25, 2011, followed by the awarding ceremony, February 27. Four awards are set for the contest, including a Gold Award with 10,000 Yuan bonus each and the Universiade presents, four Silver Awards with 5,000 Yuan bonus each and the presents, eight Bronze Awards with 2,000 Yuan bonus each and the presents and fifty Honorable Awards with 100 Yuan bonus each and the presents. What’s more, the awardees above Bronze Award will have a chance to get the Universiade games – time media pass.
