Koreans win two gold medals

Koreans Kim Seong Hoon and Jo Eun Ae took the gold medals in the Recurve Men and Recurve Women at the 8th World University Archery Championship in Shenzhen yesteday.

In the Compound Men discipline, two archers from the United States competed against each other in a relaxing atmosphere. Gallant Adam defeated his No. 1 rival Daniel Wido that won the U.S. National Archery Championship in May and took the gold medal. Seyedeh Vida Halimian Avval from Iran won the women compound as she did in the championship last year.

Korean Seok Ji Hyun took the silver medal. American archer Anschutz Erika, winner of the compound women of the 2008 World University Archery Championship, took the bronze medal.

“I like the city and I am looking forward to coming back for the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade,” Kim told a press conference after the competition.

Chinese woman archer Xu Yumei took the 8th place in the individual elimination while Chinese man archer Chen Yangfu took the 16th place.  Jane Lai
