IV. Event Introduction:
Time for event varies according to different events, from the shortest time of shooting once in 3 seconds and shooting five times within 4 seconds, to the longest time of shooting 60 times within two and a half hours, and so on.
Qualifying competition may use paper target or electronic target, while electronic target specified by ISSF must be used in finals. The size of target depends on events and shooting distance.
Rifle shooter shall uses prone position, standing position or kneeling position in holding the rifle with both hands to shoot, respectively, according to different events; while pistol shooter shall adopt the gesture of standing position with a single hand to shoot; Running target and clay-pigeon shooter shall shoot at standing position with both hands holding the gun. The number of bullets used for men’s event is larger than that of women’s event.
Shooter in rifle and running target events may wear special shooting clothes with specified hardness and thickness under rules; while shooter in rifle and clay-pigeon events shall only wear common clothes.
Competition gun caliber: air gun, 4.5mm; minor-caliber gun, 5.6mm, while large-caliber gun, 7.62～9.65mm;as for clay-pigeon shooting, No.12 caliber shotgun is used. Minor-caliber guns use rim fire bullets, and large caliber guns use center-fire bullets, while the projectile weight of trap bullet shall not be over 24.5g.
Electronic target system: electronic target, comprised of target, indicator and memory system, uses the principle of sound wave sensor. It makes a sound while the bullet hits the target surface. These sound waves are received by the sound wave sensor, which calculates the time of receiving these sound waves with its own system software, converses the time into the distance data, and as a result determines and indicates the positions and the scores achieved from the bullet scar on target by indicator. In the final, electronic target uses decimal point value, which divides the same score into 10 equal portions, as the scores after decimal point. As to the same score, the closer the bullet scar is to bullseye, the higher the score is, for example, 10.9，10.8 and 10.7.
