Community children speak and sing for Universiade

The activity “speak and sing for the Univerisade” was launched on the afternoon of November 28, Nanshan District. The first activity of “Speak · Shenzhen” community campaign is hosted by the Universiade Organizing Committee office and the Universiade Executive Office. More than thirty children performed a “Telecom Sitcom” and sang the song “Start Here”. Their performance expressed their expectation and best wishes for the Universiade.

As was told, with the help of the “Speak · Shenzhen” campaign, Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government hope to improve citizens’ English language ability, so as to create a language learning environment for the upcoming Universiade. For instance, the Organizing Committee plans to encourage citizens to learn English by means of performing crash course training, competitions and propaganda. Furthermore, a project named “building model bilingual city” will be carried out to stir up the crowd and upgrade the their English language level.

The multi – media foreign language intelligent terminal, a platform for all Shenzheners to learn English and know about the Universiade, is a highlight of the language learning campaign. Several hundred multi – media foreign language intelligent terminals are going to be placed at the city’s big communities, parks, culture and sports centers and business plazas. In this way, oral English courses like “Daily English 100”, “Hello, Shenzhen” and videos related to the Universiade are set to broadcast every day and night, so that citizens can learn English more easily and get knowledge of the Univerisade without going far, around the clock.

The reporter was told that “Speak · Shenzhen” intelligent terminals have started to work since November 24, with the first twenty having been seen at the surrounding communities of Maoye Store Nanshan branch and the others to follow in a few months to extend to the whole city. Meanwhile, a hatful of posters have also been put on in those communities to help citizens reach the Universiade.
