Devices installed in the vehicle can be used to inspect more than 10 varieties of food including milk, pork and edible oil, according to the city’s market supervision administration.

Administration law enforcers will take the vehicle on routine inspection tours and conduct on-site preliminary inspections of suspicious food, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

The campaign will cover supermarkets, schools, construction sites, factories and residential communities.

“There was a remarkable decrease in the number of food poisoning incidents in the first half of the year and the qualification rate of the random inspections in the first half also increased. This covered food production, distribution and catering,” said Kuang Bing, vice director general of the administration.

There was no serious food poisoning in the first half of the year, Kuang said.

The administration would distribute promotional material, put up promotional posters and conduct lectures on food safety.
