Universiade volunteers to serve Archery Championships

The Eighth World University Archery Championship will open from September 24 to 26, Shenzhen. In order to polish their service skills and render high – quality service for this session of the Archery Championship, 150 volunteers selected by the Universiade Executive Office will be assisting with the Championship, September 20 – 28.

So far, 27 countries, including China, the USA, Spain, Australia, Ukraine, the UK, and Japan, have signed up to participate in the Championship. The Executive Office attaches great importance to the large – scale and high – standard Championship with many participating countries, and the Executive Office also calls to consider the Championship as a rehearsal of the games – time Universiade. The Executive Office hopes that hosting the Championship can lay a good foundation to stage a “more exciting, successful and influential” university sports gala.

To offer better service to the Archery Championship, the Executive Office Volunteers Department carefully selected 150 volunteers from Futian District and universities like Shenzhen University, Shenzhen Polytechnic and Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology. Volunteers are to support the functional areas including guest accompanying, language translation, registration and arrival and departure, hotel advice, ceremonies guidelines, award ceremonies, TV broadcasting, information technology, media operations and competition organization.

To guarantee the service quality, the Universiade Executive Office specially held a volunteer mobilization meeting & a volunteer general knowledge training at Shenzhen Youth League School, the afternoon of September 12. Full – time Deputy Director of the Executive Office Liu Pingsheng and Deputy Chief of the Community and Interests Division of the Municipal Youth League Committee Xue Zheng attended the mobilization meeting and delivered speeches.

Director of Shenzhen Youth League School Training Division Luo Zhongxian, Assistant Chief of the Executive Office Security and Safeguard Department Hu Quansheng and Archery Commissioner of Competition Department Lin Xiaobin gave training lessons to all the volunteers on volunteer know – how, security and safeguard notes and archery rudiments.

Liu Pingsheng noted, as this session of Archery Championship is an important test for the Shenzhen Universiade, volunteer needs as well as volunteer quality, the games – time command mode, operation mechanism and volunteer rights will be wholly tested in service to the Championship. He hoped that people volunteering the Championship can accumulate more working experience, so as to polish their service to the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade.
