Largest trade fair during expo planned

SHENZHEN will hold a trade fair to boost investment and consumption during the Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo to be held in Changchun, Jilin Province, from Sept. 1 to 6.

It will be the biggest and highest-level trade fair Shenzhen has organized on the mainland outside the city this year, a press conference of the government information office said yesterday.

A total of 349 well-known Shenzhen companies in different fields, including energy-saving lighting, electronic products, household appliances, jewelry, medical equipment and automobile manufacturing and auto accessories, will display their products at the fair, Peng Xinye, vice head of the Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology, Industry, Trade and Information Commission, said at the press conference.

This will be the city’s fourth fair since it adopted a policy at the beginning of the year to stimulate the economy amid the financial crisis. The other fairs were in Chengdu, Lanzhou and Xi’an.

The city had clinched deals worth 20 billion yuan (US$2.93 billion) during the previous fairs.

The city’s last fair will be held in Guangxi in October.

The city government has decided to spend 100 million yuan to organize international and national trade fairs to attract investment and help local enterprises expand on international and domestic markets amid the global economic downturn.

During the expo, 188 local enterprises will hold two job fairs in Changchun and Jilin cities, offering 7,800 positions, said Li Ming, vice director general of the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

“The positions include 500 vacancies for general managers, executive directors and marketing and sales supervisors,” Li said.

Professionals in information technology, electrical equipment, integration of mechanics and electronics would be the most popular at the job fair, Li said.
