On the afternoon of July 14, the VIP gangway of the Citizen Center B Area was enveloped in an atmosphere of joy, where Shenzhen City was holding a welcoming ceremony of the Universiade flag. Students from all the universities of Shenzhen and citizens from all walks of life assembled here, expressing their expectation for the Shenzhen Universiade and showing their excitement on welcoming the Universiade flag.
“This is actually a Universiade for our own, our home field. How can’t I be cheerful?” said Tong Youjun, a Grade 2 computer majoy postgraduate from Qing Hai Province, currently studying in the Internet research and development centre of Beijing Unversity Shenzhen Graduate School. “Although it is in the summer holiday, my classmates still enter their names and come, as there will be a welcoming ceremony of the Universiade flag. Who wants to miss the first show of the Universiade flag in Shenzhen? You see, here comes 12 guys of computer major, all excited.” Tong added.
Among the fevered crowd, a young lady Maria, who has dual nationality of Russian and Australian, seems very catching. She said, “As a young girl, I like Shenzhen very much, because it is a young and vibrant city with great numbers of young people.” She laughed and went on saying, “Like the others, I am very excited on the welcoming ceremony of the Universiade flag. I know, to any Shenzhener, it is of great importance. And to me, a missionary who has come to Shenzhen and lived here for more than two years, the ceremony can not be less important. As a girl who has been working in the the Executive Office for the Shenzhen Universiade for half a year, the Universiade turns to be a vital part of my life. ”
“I believe by hosting the 26th Universiade, Shenzhen will be known by more people throughout the world and will attract more young people to the city, where they gather, compete and exchange. From the moment the Universiade enters Shenzhen time, each of us should make every effort to host a sccessful Universiade, through superb service and friendly smile.
