A face- to- face talk with Liu Yongzhong, a warrior climbing up Mount Jolmo Lungma

On the afternoon of July 22, invited by the Media Department of the Executive Office for the Shenzhen Universiade, Liu Yongzhong, a warrior climbing to the top of up Mount Jolmo Lungma, had a talk “ Wish the Shenzhen Universiade Success at the Top of the World”, with students correspondents from University Media Union. At about 10 am, May 17 this year, Liu Yongzhong, a native Shenzhener from Pinghu, Longgang District, reached the summit of Mount Jolmo Lungma, , and spread a banner with the words “Shenzhen Universiade, the top Universiade” at the highest peak of the earth, expressing his best wishes for the coming Universiade. Back from Mount Jolmo Lungma, Liu Yongzhong was thinking of giving some articles in his climbing to the Executive Office as as the commemorative. On the afternoon of July 22, Liu presented a board glittered with “Wish the Shenzhen Universiade All Success” to Deputy Director-general Zhao Guanghua. As a gift in return, Zhao Guanghua gave a tray with the Universiade mascot “UU” on it and and a “UU” medal to Liu for keeping, in order to thank him for his promotion for the Universiade at the top of the world.

Afterwards, Liu Yongzhong shared his long and fantastic tory with the students correspondents present. He started from Guangzhou to Lhasa by train on March 25, and returned to Shenzhen on May 24. On his tough travel, he used to climb from an elevation of 6400 meters, via 7028 meters and 7790 meters, to 8300 meters. In spite ofhigh altitude,infrabar, very low temperature, and snowstorm in his climbing, he was the first to reach the peak luckily. As soon as he arrived, he spread some prepared banners with best wish words on them, helping promote the Shenzhen Universiade at the top of world.

At Longganng District, the sweet hometown of Liu Yongzhong, a Universiade City is being built, which makes Liu very proud and expectant. He said, “The main sports venue for the Universiade is being built at my grannny’s village. Every time I pass my stamping ground, I can’t help stopping by for taking a look at those venues.” “I believe, the successful hosting of the next Universiade will not only enrich citizens’ life,but also advance the development of Shenzhen’s sports culture,” he added, “As a common native Shenzhener who comes from Longgang District, I just want to take the chance of climbing up Mount Jolmo Lungma to let the world know about Shenzhen. Meanwile, I want to say to Shenzhen, my hometown, whenever you need me, I will be right here. ” At present, Liu Yongzhong is planning a nationwide open cycling racing competition at Pinghu, Shenzhen, publicizing the Universiade.
