Flight check-in available at checkpoint

SHENZHEN International Airport opened a city waiting hall at the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint on Friday, offering check-in services to travelers from Hong Kong and Macao. It is the 15th opened in Pearl River Delta cities.

Hong Kong and Macao travelers can take Kwoon Chung Bus Group buses from Harbor City at Tsim Sha Tsui, Tuen Mun, Kam Sheung Road, Kowloon Tong, Mong Kok, Wan Chai, Hong Kong International Airport and Disneyland to the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint for check-in procedures before boarding at the Shenzhen airport.

Buses will operate between the checkpoint and the Shenzhen airport from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 30-minute intervals. The cost of the trip, which generally takes 30 minutes, is HK$45 (US$5.80). Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint has opened a special lane for the airport shuttles and passengers don’t necessarily need to leave the coach for inspections.

Their luggage goes through a special lane at the airport reserved for VIPs to save their time.

The opening of the Shenzhen Bay waiting hall will further enhance passenger turnover from the two cities and improve the air service to the Shenzhen airport for Hong Kong and Macao travelers, Huang Min, head of the city’s transport bureau, said at a launch ceremony Friday.

Shenzhen Airport Group president Huang Chuanqi said the company would open waiting halls at other checkpoints. It is expected 1.5 million passengers will pass through PRD waiting halls this year. From January to May, around 630,000 travelers had used the waiting halls and shuttle bus services to the Shenzhen airport.
