Postal Service
In 2006, the revenue of the city’s postal services totaled 37.95 billion yuan, up 18.3 percent over the previous year. The post offices sold 160 million copies of newspapers and 11 million copies of magazines, and handled 140 million letters and 10.98 million express mails.

Fixed Telephone Service
Shenzhen has 4,818,600 gates of switchboards for fixed telephones and 3,773,900 fixed telephone users.

Mobile Phone Service
The city’s capacity of switchboards for mobile phones has reached 18 million gates, and the number of mobile phone users has amounted to 14.94 million. There are 221 phones (including mobile phones) for every 100 people.

Internet Service
Currently Shenzhen has 2,328,500 Internet users and more than 6 million broadband netizens, while 60 percent of its households have subscribed to broadband services. It is in a lead position in the country in terms of the number of Internet users and market penetration rate. The broadband life has approached the level of countries with the highest number of broadband subscribers such as China’s Hong Kong and South Korea.
